XIANYOU MIAO: A Touch, A Place — solo exhibition by Xianyou Miao at L Gallery, Hangzhou, 15 Nov – 29 Nov 2025.
"Touch" is the transmission of feeling, the spark of inspiration. It begins with the moment a fingertip meets the canvas, sensing the flow of pigment and the immediacy of contact. It is also a touch with nature—the pulse of mountains and rivers, the breath of flowers and grasses. Through these encounters, fragments long dormant within memory are awakened, lending the work a sense of warmth and vitality.
"Place" is the preservation of a scene, a fragment of lived experience. Through painting, I seek to capture fleeting moments of beauty before they disappear, releasing them from the constraints of everyday reality and allowing them to endure in another form.
This exhibition is an exploration of both "Touch" and "Place". I hope these works may function as windows through which viewers can encounter their own inner worlds, rediscover overlooked moments of beauty, and experience the quiet resonance of art.
